New to cardmaking? You need to know:
Card Size: Cards can be made in just about any size you want. One thing to remember is that envelopes are available in only about half a dozen sizes so before making a whole bunch of odd size cards, please make sure that matching envelopes are available. If all fails you can always make your own envelope to size using an envelope maker.
A few of the essential supplies & tools of the trade:
Cardstock: we currently carry over 350 different colours, textured, reversible, embossed, sandable, etc… Available individually or in packs. Our cardstock is 12 x 12, 8.5 x11, 8 x 8 and 4.5 x 6.5 giving you a wide variety of sizes to fit any project. You will enjoy choosing the perfect colours from such a large selection.
Adhesives: with dozens of types of adhesives to choose from, it can be a bit daunting to choose the right one. There are adhesives for glitter, temporary use, low tack, dry, wet, dimensional, for ribbon, specialty papers, vellum, etc… As you can imagine the list goes on, each type of adhesive serves a particular purpose so feel free to tell us what you need it for and we will make sure you get the right one.
Embellishments: ribbons, buttons, brads, eyelets, glitter to give you that designer look.
Paper Trimmer: a good paper cutter/trimmer is worth its weight in gold.
Die cutting & embossing system: The introduction of the Big Shot die cutting machine to our market as made it much easier and faster to create elaborate looking cards in minutes. This machine is by far the tool that our customers says is their best buy. Please come in for a quick demo, you will not regret it.
Background Papers: with over 1,200 different patterned papers for you to select from, we have covered all possibilities. Depending on the look you are looking for in your cards: you can choose from small patterns or bolder, larger, brighter colours. Themed papers also can be very useful when making cards in a hurry. And it will all coordinate with any of our cardstock colours available.
Inks and embossing powders: available in a multitude of colours and purposes. Some inks are for porous or slick papers; fast drying or heat set, etc… Be sure to let us know what your project is so we can get you the proper ink.
